About This Event

Festival overview

Niladri Bije is the concluding ceremony of the entire Rath Yatra festival. The deities are ceremonially escorted from their chariots back into the Ratna Singhasana (jeweled throne) inside the temple sanctum. This day is also celebrated as Rasagola Dibasa — the day Lord Jagannath appeases Goddess Lakshmi with rasagolas (sweet cheese balls), commemorating the sweet reconciliation between them. A joyful and emotionally moving conclusion to the festival cycle.
