Kartika Purnima marks the end of the auspicious month of Kartika, one of the holiest months in the Odia Hindu calendar. The temple is lit with thousands of lamps (diyas). Devotees participate in Boita Bandana — the tradition of floating paper or banana-bark boats on water bodies at dawn, commemorating Odisha's glorious history as a seafaring nation whose ancient merchants sailed to Southeast Asia. A deeply cultural and spiritual celebration.
